History
OPTIKON was established in 1974 to offer specialized marketing services for photonics products in Canada, the USA, and overseas. As the Company evolved it specialized in the following areas: Visible and Infrared Light Measuring Instrumentation, Optical Research and Development Laboratory Hardware, and Non-Contact Optical Measuring and Monitoring Instrumentation. In 1987, through an acquisition, OPTIKON expanded into the field of High Speed Image Recording and Analysis, capturing a sizeable market share of the Canadian market, as well as expanding into the USA, European and Japanese markets.
With over ten years of experience in the biological imaging, spectroscopy and general imaging areas, OPTIKON continues its expansion with the addition of our High Performance CCD Imaging section. This growing and technically demanding field of high performance imaging has allowed us to further expand our specialized marketing services into these new areas.
We are currently active in the following areas:
- Exclusive strategic marketing alliances with manufacturers in the USA, Europe and Japan. These include the marketing and sales of highly specialized photonic and closely related products that demand superior technical knowledge to be successfully introduced into the Canadian, USA, and International markets. OPTIKON specializes in such technical marketing and sales expertise.
- Systems integration of manufactured photonics products and systems that require additional supporting instrumentation to meet customer needs. Such system integration is offered solely for products already sold separately by OPTIKON.
- Technical services for most photonic products sold and all integrated systems. Including installation, service contracts, repairs, calibrations and re-calibrations. Specialized training courses are offered in Light Measuring Instrumentation and High Speed Image Recording and Analysis.
- Manufacturing of proprietary products. They include our product line of very high illuminance light sources for high speed image recording and analysis, as well as the cal-LIGHT 400 calibrated precision lightmeter, the cal-SPOT 401 calibrated precision spot photometer, and the cal-COLOR 400 Colormeter, marketed worldwide through OPTIKON's USA based sister company, The COOKE Corporation.
